If you are short on time or travelling with family and kids this is the trek for you. A full day in the jungle, back in the village by afternoon. No overnight stay needed, no heavy packing. Just a full jungle experience from start to finish.
We pick you up from your guesthouse at 9am and head straight into the jungle.
The day is around 6 to 7 hours in total but it never feels like big walking challenge. We stop when we spot animals, we stop for fruit, we stop for lunch, we stop whenever we feel like it; there is no rush.
The main goal is to find orangutans. And we usually do: Not just to see them from a distance but to actually meet them. Seeing an orangutan is a very special experience. When one comes close, looks you in the eye, and goes about its day right in front of you — that is what Meet the Orangutans is all about. Along the way you will likely also come across long-tailed macaques, Thomas leaf monkeys, pig-tailed macaques, and all kinds of jungle birds and, if you are really lucky, hornbills and gibbons too. Every day in the jungle is different that is what makes it interesting.
Before heading back, we find a good spot on the Bohorok River for a swim. Clean water, jungle all around you. After that, you jump on a tube and float back to the village.
Simple. Real. A good day.
The evening before your trek, one of our team will come to your guesthouse to introduce ourselves, explain what to expect, and answer any questions. So on the morning of the trek, you already know us.
