Four days, three nights. This one goes deeper and the jungle starts to feel different the deeper you go.
On days 1 & 2 we follow a longer trail into Gunung Leuser National Park. The goal is still to meet orangutans and not just to see them from a distance, but get close enough for a real encounter. The further in you go, the quieter it gets. Wildlife is harder to spot out here the animals are more sensitive to human presence. If you do see something, it is usually gone in seconds but that is part of what makes it special. These are truly wild animals in a truly wild jungle.
The highlight of day 2 is the campsite: Right beside the camp, there are several small waterfalls, and one of them falls directly into a natural rock pool, carved by nature over thousands of years. Think natural swimming pool, with a waterfall flowing into it, cold, clean, and completely surrounded by jungle. You can spend the whole afternoon there.
Day 3 we move on to the bigger river enjoy a fresh dinner at the camp, and listen to frogs and cicadas and watch the fireflies - just a usual evening in the jungle.
Day 4 and you decide;
Option 1 — We take it easy, stay at the camp, relax by the river and simply enjoy the morning. Then we head to the river for a swim and tube rafting back to the village.
Option 2 — Back into the jungle for around 2 more hours of trekking before we make our way to the river for a swim and rafting home.
It's your call.
